Survey Gauges Interest in WiBro among Korean Mobile Phone Users
November 18, 2005
The Korean National Computerization Agency recently did a survey among 531 mobile phone subscribers in the Seoul Metropolitan Area to gauge potential interest in WiBro services, which will come into commercial use in 2006. 48.59% of those surveyed said they are planning to use Wibro services when it comes available, while 58.94% said that they would strongly consider using WiBro within a year after its release. When the people surveyed were asked what kind of services should be made compatible with WiBro, 40.68% said mobile communications, 33.33% WLAN, 21.47% DMB, and 4.52% telematics.

Furthermore, the Korean Ministry of Information and Communication confirmed on November 15 that WiBro has been accepted as an international standard by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), but it stated that the details of the standard will only be announced in December.
